76s - Big Bang!

I am now completely convinced the Garmin 76s is better than the 76cs and the 76csx for use in competitions. While scoring the Hang-On comp, the 76s performed flawlessly, while the other two had a variety of problems, from broken track logs to elevation data not transmitting with the waypoints (a compgps issue).

The broken track logs are the bigger issue because if a track is split up enough, sooner or later, the scoring software is not going to score one of their tasks correctly, and while the scorekeeper can work hard to try to fix it up, the problem is a gear problem which is the pilots responsibility.

The bottom line - at under $200 shipped to your door, the 76s is still the best bang for the buck for a competition GPS.
